In deep space, the toy rocket from the episode "Child's Play" suffers engine failure and is picked up by a spacecraft owned by an alien named Bosch. Bosch incapacitates the Autobots, and removes the free will, except for Smokescreen, who is unaffected by Bosch's device.

Smokescreen bets Bosch (who is a compulsive gambler) that he can beat Bosch's slot machine for his freedom, but if he loses Smokescreen forfeits his life. Smokescreen secretly attaches a small cable to the slot machine, allowing him to cheat and win. Bosch is amazed, since even he can't beat the machine.

Bosch agrees to free the other Autobots if Smokescreen will help him win enough money to fuel his freighter on the gambling planet Monicus. Bosch attempts to use the Autobots (shrunken down to diminutive size for transport) as collateral for some gambling money, but no one, not even Asimov in the Tet Quadrant will take them. So, Bosch takes Smokescreen and the shrunken Autobots to Sheol, the underworld portion of Monicus, run by space thugs and alien kingpins. They find Lord Gyconi, who owns the "Pit Of Destruction" arena for gladiatorial bouts, with the vicious mutants called Animaliens.

Gyconi takes the Autobots as collateral for 50 Energon chips at 500% interest, payable within an hour. If they fail to pay back the money , times five, within the hour, Lord Gyconi owns Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Inferno and Perceptor. Smokescreen loses all of the money when an alien spots his cheating cable and disconnects it and Gyconi gets ready to pit the Autobots versus the Animaliens.

Dirge, Ramjet and Astrotrain arrive on Monicus and are followed by the Autobot bounty hunter, Defcon. Smokescreen meets Defcon in a bar, after Defcon saves Slizardo, a servant of Gyconi

Dirge and Ramjet travel to Sheol to shake Gyconi down. Gyconi is involved with the Decepticons' criminal underworld activities, and Megatron has gotten word the Gyconi is embezzling from him, but Gyconi denies the charges. Ramjet and Dirge are interested in seeing the Autobots fight, so they back off of Gyconi, after he lets them watch for free.

Gyconi charges the Autobots with unstable Energon to make them fight fiercely, and Optimus is placed in the arena. Smokescreen fills the arena with smoke and breaks up the fight. Bosch and Smokescreen try to flee, but Ramjet and Dirge follow him shooting. Defcon saves them and offers to help save the other Autobots.

Slizardo, now loyal to Defcon, tells Smokescreen, Bosch and Defcon that Dirge, Ramjet and Gyconi are attempting to board Astrotrain with the Autobots. They rush to where Astrotrain waits and see that he is being loaded with Gyconi's Energon by the will-less Autobots.

Smokescreen and Defcon battle Astrotrain, Ramjet and Dirge while Slizardo and Bosch face off against Gyconi.. The firefight increases, so Gyconi and the Decepticons retreat, leaving the Autobots and most of the Energon, with Smokescreen and the others. Defcon pursues the Decepticons and takes Slizardo as his partner.

Bosch restores the Autobots and agrees to take them all back to Earth, after a little more Gambling.
