AUTOBOT
SPIKE
Inside the Autobot Volcano, Sparkplug conducts an experiment using spare
parts from the
Autobots into a hodgepodge robot named Autobot X. Upon activation, Autobot
X goes berserk
and begins trashing the place. At first the Autobots attacks are ineffective,
but Autobot X is
subdued with their persistent attacks, and Autobot X is deactivated. Wheeljack
proposes that
Autobot X's body could be used to store Autobot minds, while their bodies
were being repaired.
Suddenly Teletran One signals an alert that the Decepticons are attacking
a new Airforce
Rocket Base. The Autobots leave to stop the Decepticons.
At the rocket base the battle rages and the rockets are all destroyed.
The Decepticons leave,
since their goal, to steal the rocket fuel, was nullified by the rockets'
destruction. To distract the
Autobots and allow for escape Megatron transforms and Soundwave fires
him upon Bumblebee
and Spike, injuring them both. Ratchet rushes Spike to the hospital.
For some reason, the Doctor states that the operation would be easier
if Spikes mind was
removed from his body (?). Sparkplug proposes that they place Spike's
mind into Autobot X's
body. The transfer is successful, and as soon as he is activated, Spike,
now an Autobot, begins
trashing the place.
Optimus Prime subdues him, and Sparkplug calms Spike down. Spike expresses
that he's
having trouble thinking and is feeling the urge to do "bad things".
Wheeljack determines that it
must be a side effect of the mind transfer. The Autobots leave Spike in
the Base while they go to
repair the rocket base. Unbeknownst to them, Laserbeak spies on the events
and reports back
to Megatron. Once Megatron learns of Spike's instability, he begins plotting
to use him against
the Autobots.
Back in the Volcano, as Ratchet repairs Bumblebee, Spike watches a television
broadcast of
"Frankenstein" and begins to think of himself as a monster,
and, again, begins wrecking the
place. Spike escapes the Base when Ratchet and Wheeljack try to calm him
down. Bumblebee
pursues Spike, but his repairs were incomplete, and he has no way to contact
the other
Autobots. Reflector observes and reports the happenings to Megatron.
Elsewhere, Spike contemplates what he should do with his new body and
newfound power and
decides that he has the power to conquer mankind. Bumblebee arrives and
tries to talk to Spike,
but Spike attacks him. Then Megatron and the Decepticons arrive and Megatron
persuades
Spike to join him. Bumblebee races to report this to Optimus Prime.
At the rocket base, Optimus Prime and the Autobots watch as the newly
repaired rockets are
launched when Bumblebee arrives. After hearing about Megatron's attempts
to subvert Spike
the Autobots rush to help him.
Spike confronts Optimus and the Autobots and tells them that he desires
to keep his new body.
Then he reveals his new alliance to Megatron and fires (in gun mode) at
Optimus. The
Decepticon jump out from their hiding places and ambush the Decepticons.
Spike and the
Decepticons continue to attack the Autobots, and the Autobots hold off
from attacking Spike, for
fear of harming him.
Sparkplug shows up and tries to stop Spike, but Spike fires at him with
Megatron and sends
Sparkplug over a cliff's edge. Spike rescues Sparkplug and begins to come
to his senses.
Megatron urges Spike to continue his attack upon the Autobots, but Spike
betrays Megatron by
firing upon the Decepticons instead.
Spike asks Sparkplug to forgive him, but Sparkplug says that there is
nothing to forgive.
Back at Autobot HQ Spike's mind is returned to his repaired human body
and Ratchet decides
that Autobot X should be scrapped, as Bumblebee wonders what it'd be like
for an Autobot's
mind to be in a human body.
