COUNTDOWN TO EXTINCTION

The Autobots work together to help Humanity to rebuild their shattered planet, while the leaderless Decepticons fight each other in their Undersea Base, as they attempt to repair their HQ. As they come to fisticuffs, Megatron enters and they all step in line.

Laserbeak brings news of Starscream's alliance with Dr. Archeville, and the Decepticons leave to them hunt down.

Meanwhile Starscream arrives at Dr. Archeville's secret laboratory. Once inside Starscream sees Archeville's Exponential Generator and plans to use it as a bomb, to destroy the entire Earth, and gather the explosion's energy for Cybertron. Starscream leaves from Cybertron and takes Archeville with him, to avoid the destruction of Earth.

Elsewhere, Megatron and the other Decepticons are being followed by the Autobots. Megatron leads the Autobots into a canyon filled with quicksand called "The Valley of No Return", where the Autobots find themselves sinking into its depths.

On Cybertron, Starscream arrives and declares himself to be Decepticon Leader, since he believes Megatron to be dead. After a brief altercation with Shockwave, Starscream establishes his Command, at least in all appearances.

Dr. Archeville, seeking to stop Starscream's plan, is electrocuted when he touches the Decepticon Computer. Medical Droids carry his badly hurt body away for "repairs".

Megatron leaves Laserbeak behind to make sure the Autobots sink, but a blast from Mirage puts Laserbeak out of commission. Ironhide releases liquid Nitrogen into the quicksand, which allows the Autobots to escape. They playback Laserbeak's recordings and discover that Dr. Archeville and Starscream were conspiring together, and set out after Megatron, as well.

Megatron arrives at Archeville's lab and finds the Exponential Generator, but he is not aware that it is set to explode. The Autobots show up and begin to fight the Decepticons as the timer ticks down.

On Cybertron, Dr. Archeville's repairs are finished and he is revealed as an immobile cyborg, since the medicroids had very little knowledge of human physiology.

Megatron and Optimus square off in Archeville's lab, when Shockwave sends a message through to Megatron, warning him of the bomb. Megatron disconnects the timer, but the Exponential Generator's instability will still cause it to explode.

Impatiently awaiting the earth's explosion, Starscream flies back to Earth to see what has gone wrong with the bomb.

Megatron transforms into his gun mode so that he and Optimus can launch the Exponential Generator into space. The explosion in space sends Starscream tumbling back down to Archeville's lab, where Megatron finds him groveling, while the Autobots return to the Volcano
