DESERTION OF THE DINOBOTS: Part 1

While observing the test flight of an experimental Ultra Fighter Plane, Blaster discovers Ravage and Soundwave spying. The Decepticons destroy the Ultra Plane after Starscream plants a bomb on it. The Decepticons attack the Ultra Fighter Plane Research Lab as the Autobots are inspecting the plane's wreckage.

The Autobots engage the Decepticons, and Hound fools the Decepticons into retreating with one of Hound's illusions.

Meanwhile, as Carly, Spike and Bumblebee pick up Sparkplug at the airport, they spot the Decepticons. Optimus has Wheeljack send the surly Dinobots to the airport to stop the Decepticons. The Decepticons battle the Dinobots and the Dinobots demolish the Decepticon installation.

The Decepticons fool the Dinobots by playing possum, and when the Dinobots transform into their more vulnerable robot modes, the Decepticons focus their firepower on the nearby jets, which explode and damage the Dinobots. The Decepticons retreat as Hoist, red Alert and Grapple arrive to assist the Dinobots.

Back in the Volcano, Ratchet, Wheeljack and Hoist struggle to repair the badly damaged Dinobots.

The next day, while the Autobots work to repair the airport Grapple has a malfunction that causes him to wreck the building he is working on. Elsewhere, Ravage malfunctions and randomly ejects just before all of the Decepticons lose their power of flight and crash to the ground.

Optimu Prime orders the newly repaired Dinobots to fight the Decepticons, but the Dinobots refuse to take any of Optimus' orders and leave the Volcano.

The Decepticons suspect that bad Energon is causing them to malfunction, so they raid an Electrical Station to refuel, when the Autobots arrive and attack. Jazz experiences difficulty transforming and Megatron loses the ability to speak. Suddenly all of the Autobots and Decepticons experience random malfunctions making it impossible for either side to fight. The Decepticons retreat as the Autobots fall to the ground.

In the Autobot Base, Perceptor and Teletran One determine that the malfunctions are caused by the deterioration of the element Cybertonium in their systems, after lying dormant after millions of years. Cybertonium can only be found on Cybertron and the Autobots have no way to travel there. Spike and Carly overhear a Decepticon transmission stating that a shipment of Cybertonium shall be sent over the Spacebridge, but none of the Autobots can function well enough to get there.

Carly, Spike and Wheeljack figure that the Dinobots, who were created on Earth without Cybertonium, could raid the Spacebridge and bring some back to the Autobots, but they would have to find and convince the Dinobots first.

Sparkplug, Spike and Carly go in search of the Dinobots. When they find the Dinobots, Grimlock tries to kill the humans, but Swoop saves them before Grimlock can crush them. They convince the Dinobots to raid the Spacebridge, which is guarded by the Constructicons, who still function.

As the Dinobots try to retrieve some Cybertonium, the Spacebridge is activated and they are sent to Cybertron. On Cybertron the Dinobots battle Shockwave. Sparkplug, worried about the Dinobots, contacts them to discover that they are on Cybertron, and Grimlock refuses to return to Earth and be Optimus' underling.

Spike and Carly get past Devastator and onto the Spacebridge, to bring the Dinobots and Cybertonium back, but when they arrive on the other side, Shockwave fires into the Spacebridge
