FIRE IN THE SKY

Unusual temperature drops around the globe cause Optimus Prime to seek out the cause. SkySpy's report is that the Decepticons, at an Arctic Station, are draining the Earth's internal heat into Energon Cubes.

While laying a pipeline beneath the Arctic ice, Rumble discovers a large robot frozen within. After the robot is removed, Starscream reveals that the robot was an old friend named Skyfire, who was lost on an early expedition to Earth, over Four Million Years before. Starscream worked feverishly to revive Skyfire, and succeeded. Skyfire was quickly inducted into the Decepticons.

The Autobots arrive as, Starscream instructs Skyfire in the Decepticon way. Skyfire, on guard duty, sights the Autobots and fires upon them. Spike and Sparkplug are stranded on an Ice Floe, and Skyfire rescues them. After a short debate about ideology, Skyfire turns the humans over to Megatron, who imprisons them. Skyfire is reprimanded for sympathizing with the humans and promising the enemies of the Decepticons safe haven. Starscream orders him back to Guard Duty.

The Autobots enter the Decepticon Ice Tunnels in search of Spike & Sparkplug. Windcharger frees the humans, as Ironhide, Ratchet, Hound and Gears discover the Energon production Facility. Megatron discovers and captures Ironhide, Ratchet, Hound and Gears, while the other Autobots search for them.

Skyfire is ordered to execute the captured Autobots, and when Skyfire refuses, Starscream disciplines him by blasting him. Then Starscream blasts the Autobots and apparently destroys them, but is really fooled by one of Hound's Holograms.

Reunited, the Autobots work to save Skyfire's life, and are discovered by Laserbeak. Megatron orders the Decepticons to attack. Optimus and Megatron duel with crystal swords, and as Megatron appears to be beaten, Skyfire appears behind Prime. Megatron orders Skyfire to destroy Optimus, but Skyfire declares that he is no longer a Decepticon. Skyfire dons and Autobot symbol and heaves Megatron into the ice.

Starscream and Skyfire square off and crash head on into one another, sending Starscream crashing into the ground. In a final move, Skyfire blasts the Crystal Shaft and reburies it, as well as himself.
